    Summary

It was never smart to put all one’s eggs in a single basket; plans could change at the drop of a hat. A man who refused to be flexible, to come up with alternate solutions and think ahead when making decisions, was a very poor man indeed.

However, in Remmick’s defense, he genuinely hadn’t considered that these Ku Klux Klan members might turn down a white man offering gold and a sob story. Hadn’t even crossed his mind.

(Or, a lot of Remmick’s plan working hinges on pure dumb luck. What happens if that luck swings the other way?)
