Summary
Today is no ordinary day, no. Today is the first Snowdown that Viktor and him are going to spend together.
At least, that they're going to spend together properly, not working through it because they lost notion of time until they got startled by the fireworks outside of the window, or that they spent sleeping on a heap of limbs over the couch at the corner of the lab, oblivious to the happy squeals of children in the streets—the consequences of having pulled several all-nighters in a row trying to keep up with the speed of their own ideas.
Today will be different because this time not only neither of them has lost track of time; Viktor actually, actively, agreed that they should spend time together to celebrate the occasion outside of work. They got two entire years of celebrations to make up for, after all, or so he had said, with a clever twist on his lips that had made Jayce forget what he had been planning in the first place.

And though Viktor isn’t a philosopher, even he knows that trying to create a different outcome by the same means is a labor of madness, not of love, even if it’s the depth of his feelings what always keeps him from ignoring the call of that little frightened boy in the snow.
But that’s not the only part of the equation that he can change, and it’s long overdue that he accepts that his sentimentality has been the source of his frustrations.

“Alright, alright, no need to yell at me!”
Dimple blinks, the scowl on his face melting into skepticism. “I thought that was you.”
“You think I sound like that?”
“Well, what else could it be?!”
They stare at each other in silence for a beat.
And then they both turn around to look at the teapot, now hovering in the air in front of their faces and, just like it has been doing through the past minute, screaming.

Summary
Viktor had barely settled back into his work when he heard the lab door slowly creak open.
He froze.
The campus should be closed at this time of night, especially on Progress Day. No one except for him, Jayce, Sky, and campus security even had access to enter this lab. He knew for certain Jayce and Sky were not returning until tomorrow morning. Sky left hours ago, mentioning she would be meeting with friends from the Undercity. Meanwhile, Jayce was representing Hextech at the afterparty Viktor declined to attend at the last minute, meeting foreign investors who were visiting for Progress Day.
Viktor whirled around, poised to face the intruder while armed with a flat-head screwdriver as his eyes scanned every corner of the lab in search of an unwelcome visitor.
But no one was there.
