He watched from the shadows, as always. That’s when he saw the boy—no more than six or seven, copper hair like a fox kit’s tuft, and masive russet eyes. He’d slipped from behind his mother’s skirts, blinking at the crowd as if dropped into another world. Then his eyes fixed on Rhys’s.
“You’re staring,” Rhys said quietly.
The boy flushed. “I wasn’t,” he murmured.
“Yes, you were.” Rhys stepped from the column, shadows clinging to him. “What’s your name?”
“Lucien.”
“And you are?”
Rhys glanced at his father, iron-crowned, power pressing the hall like a hand around its throat. “Rhysand,” he said softly.
Lucien’s eyes widened—not with fear, but awe and, strangely, delight. “That’s a nice name.”

A kinky slow burn tale of two lonely males divided by court politics and five hundred years of bloody history. What begins as a spiralling obsession becomes so much more as the lives of the spymaster and the prince become irrevocably intertwined.
Set a handful of years after the events of Silver Flames and CC3 this story assumes that a war against the Asteri has been fought and won (no real spoilers for CC3). Beron remains High Lord of Autumn and Koschei is still trapped at the lake. Meanwhile the Inner Circle’s alliance with Eris still stands, putting Azriel in a very tricky position when he’s caught breaking through the wards into Eris’s private chambers one evening.

That Eris didn’t fight back.No, that smug fucker was letting him do it, and oh, it turned everything upside down. All that self-proclaimed righteousness, all that warm rage turned cold, and something uncomfortable prickled at the pit of Azriel’s stomach. The perfectly manicured nails scratched his skin so slightly, the amber eyes were wide with shock, pupils dilated, but this wasn’t a face of someone who was being tortured within an inch of their life. This expression didn’t belong to someone who was currently suffocated to anoxia. Oh no, this made everything turn against him. Those eyes staring into him with their strangely lit colour, unblinking, that gaping mouth, that still visible smile, everything sang to him, please, continue, I want to be at your mercy.
