Caine retracts, becoming smaller and smaller with every word.

Kinger watches him as he goes back to his regular size, and then even smaller than that.

It’s so tempting to spit in the direction of the voice, to laugh with false bravado, to hiss something insulting, but he’s skipped the part where those are options. He’s gone from stoic and silent, determined to weather whatever they gave him, to tired and beaten, nearly broken. He hurts, his chest and hands and mouth and ankles and neck. He’s cold and thirsty and can’t stop the thought that compliance would make it stop.
“Don’t worry, pretty boy.”
He knows what’s coming. He doesn’t know when, but the hands that touch him all over, ‘pretty boy,’ his worn-out body increasingly unable to resist, the lewd whistles when they’d cut his shirt away…it’s a purposeful build-up, meant to make him dread the end result, what will happen if he doesn’t give them what they want.
“We can find a use for that mouth.”
