Summary
Mumbo feels doomed to take and rob from everyone he's ever dared to love, while Cub doesn't entirely understand what the big deal is. If you want it, especially if you need it, there's no reason you should fuss. Just ask and it's yours. Everyone on the server would understand. Especially if it's eating people. Like, everyone eats people from time to time, Mumbo, and most of us aren't doing it to survive. Chillax.
Cub does not understand the extent of what Mumbo is, of what Mumbo needs, but regardless, Cub would be more than happy to fear him.
(this can probably be read as platonic or romantic but in my brain it skews more romantic. if a clearer line is drawn as the story progresses I will remove this note lol)

Summary
Scar let out an excited chitter as he swam a few slow circles around Grian, eyes locked on the large container in his hands. Grian had promised that he was going to bring him a present earlier in the week, and it looked like it was time for him to receive it.
“Alright, hang on–” Grian laughed as his fins brushed up against him. “Let me get the lid off.”
Scar paused his swimming, hovering in the water in front of Grian and the container, his eyes wide as he watched him remove the lid. There was a splash, a shudder of movement, and–
Oh! There was a catfish in the water with him!! A little spotted grey and black and white catfish, tiny, barely four inches probably, swimming around him in circles in a way that paralleled the way he had swam around Grian earlier.
“Grian!” Scar gasped, holding out his hands as the catfish swam between his fingers. “She’s so cute!”
