This was the first time they had actually been called to check on such rumors. As the resident immortals of this world, they had been requested to investigate as the villages were starting to fear the thing in the woods. There had been stories popping up about monster hunters that had ventured in and never come out again. It was these stories that had caught their interest."

Summary
In a bored manner, King Ganondorf asks, “The princess’s favorite flower, what is it?” And he does not look at Link while he asks this, nor does he bother to address Link by name.
Instead, he stares at the backs of his nails, idly pondering the blunt tips of them and their cerulean polish.
It takes a moment for Link to even understand that the question is being directed at him.
The women of the Gerudo court snicker and smirk behind Link’s back. He quickly fumbles with his hands for an answer and he is nearly halfway done with signing the words for ‘Silent’ and ‘Princess,’ when the King sharply barks,
“Do I have to ask again?”
Link’s hands still.
Or, Zelda is set to marry Ganondorf by the end of the year. In the meantime, Link is to stay in the Gerudo Kingdom on her behalf.

Link has grown up in the castle alongside the the princess of Hyrule. He's lived under the protection of the king for only one reason: to avert the apocalypse by marrying the next Gerudo king.
"The velvety surface under him feels wrong, too soft and slick against his naked knees. Combined with the thick smell of incense and the echoing sounds of the wedding party still going on outside their door, his senses are completely overloaded. Thoughts are slippery. His skin tingles. He’s barely keeping himself together, barely keeping himself from breaking down in tears. The arm of the divan gripped by his tense hands doesn’t feel real. His fingers are stiff, on the verge of cramping, but he can’t let go. If he lets go, he will run as fast as he can towards the door."

Summary
A hundred-year sleep and a complete loss of memory aren’t enough to keep Link from finishing the job he’d left undone. The Calamity is sealed. The worst is over. They’ve even managed to come out of this ordeal without grievous injury, Link and the princess both—even Ganondorf, whose survival should have been impossible.
They’re here now, though, and safe. But as Link very quickly comes to understand, safe doesn’t necessarily mean whole.
His head’s a jumbled up mess these days, but he’s determined to push through it all the same, to figure out this whole After situation. It’s just, getting swept up in Ganon’s very intense presence isn’t really conducive to him thinking straight…
Because the thing is, no matter how hard Link had laughed earlier, no matter how relieved he is that this whole mess is finally over, he still hasn’t shaken that itch in the back of his mind. The hole in his memories is still there, demanding his attention as much as it ever has. The hurry voice isn’t gone. It’s only changed, urging him now to remember instead.
