Summary
Doctor McCoy sure as hell doesn’t compromise care, confidentiality, or his goddamn conscience for anyone. He has no problem with extracting a mind-controlling slug from Uhura's sinuses, performing a blood transfusion between a human and a sentient puddle, or administering therapy to a crew-wide hallucination of a god.
But catching feelings for Spock?
Now that’s just irresponsible.
And ultimately, it's all Jim’s fault.

Summary
Captain Kirk is missing, Spock is in command. Diplomatic circumstances are hampering their rescue efforts and predictably, McCoy is taking it out on Spock. It would be a lot easier for Spock to ignore McCoy's temper if he was not trying to stave off a migraine.

Summary
After twelve days without rest, Spock pushes his Vulcan physiology past its limits while racing to complete a critical mission. Dr. McCoy intervenes with characteristic fury, forcibly sedating Spock when reason fails, and enlists Captain Kirk to help drag their self-destructive first officer back from the brink. What follows is less a medical procedure than an emotional reckoning: forced rest, real food, and the blunt truth that Spock’s brilliance does not exempt him from care—or from being needed. As Spock recovers under Bones’ strict supervision and Kirk’s unwavering presence, the story shifts from crisis to intimacy.

Summary
Spock thought he was hiding his illness well, but he didn't count on his captain's keen observation skills nor the intuition of the Chief Medical Officer. A slice-of-life sickfic that takes place on the turbolift, one of the few places on the Enterprise where a suffering Vulcan can have a little privacy.

Summary
For a moment, Garak’s heart leapt. He imagined a tall, thin figure emerging, perhaps dressed in Starfleet Medical gray and blue, or perhaps wearing civilian clothing. He imagined him saying, I got your letter, and I couldn’t stay away any longer. Did you mean what you said?
The door opened. The figure that emerged was short and clad in the red of the Bajoran militia, with a bag slung across her shoulder.
“Colonel Kira,” Garak said. “This is an unexpected surprise. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Kira didn’t return his smile. “We need to talk, Garak. It’s about Julian.”
***
After the war, Section 31 comes after Julian. Someone really should have alerted Garak sooner, but now that he knows, he's not letting him go without a fight. Neither is Miles, Kira, or Jake, for that matter.

Summary
When Yussa invites himself along on an expedition to Aeor, he expects to unravel both the mysteries of ancient mages, as well as Caleb's mysterious arcane acquaintance.
If he'd known this sort of mystery was best-relegated to the pages of a romance novel, he probably would have stayed home.
In which Caleb unpacks some feelings around trust, Essek admits some fears about family, and Yussa is a third wheel.

Summary
“We ventured too far, considering our unexpectedly low number.” Essek turns his face against the light, as if to let it cleanse some unwanted quality from his expression. Instead, he looks carved in bone, immortalized in frowning marble. “There were … traps. Perfectly clever ones. Still functioning.”

Essek tries and fails and tries to save the man he loves.

Summary
What do you do when you can't do anything?
When a sabotaged lesson plan infects Caleb, his colleagues, and their students with a rare and deadly disease, there is little to do but wait for a team of researchers to try and find a cure. But then, each moment seems an insurmountable task--avoid panic, take care of one another, manage their worsening symptoms, figure out who or what may have caused it, and stay alive long enough for medicine to be created.
There is something all too familiar about being locked in a Soltryce tower, trusting people who can't be trusted, and hoping death won't find you before morning.

Summary
“Ah, dove,” said the umavi, using the Old Drow word for dove that also meant dear, also meant, less flatteringly, game pigeon. As a child, Essek had found the very existence of a word for a surface bird in Old Drow amusing, perplexing, until Deirta had informed him that in her youth the high houses had reared doves by hand in the Underdark, and fed them to their matriarchs. “What is to be done about you?”
-Essek has always been hungry. It is fitting then, that hungry is how he will die.

Summary
He thinks maybe it should make him more frightened, that he should worry about the liabilities he has allowed these people to become. It does nothing to temper the joy of being trusted, of being someone worthy of friend. It does nothing to diminish the memory of Caleb’s spellbook in his lap this morning, its owner sound asleep before him; the sweet press of concern behind Jester’s words in his mind the night before as she reached out with sending.
A rabbit walks into a snare. The snare closes around its throat, killing it. What is responsible for its death, the stupidity of the rabbit or the viciousness of the snare’s purpose?
The Shadowhand of the Bright Queen walks into the T-Dock, he thinks, and feels sick. Two months after surviving the ruin of Aeor, Caleb and Essek return to tie up loose ends.

“I think she was trying to play an angle, of course. You taught her well. I had just been whispering to her in the shadows about how dangerous it was that she brought you here. And she just got so guilty and she wanted to do something about it. You teach a mortal to kill a god, and suddenly she thinks she is a god.” He laughed cruelly.
All Artagan wanted in the world was to put his fucking hands around the bastard’s throat, but then he’d never find Jester. He would end up following her magic to a dead end. “Where is she?”

Summary
Essek is shaking once he’s sat there for twenty minutes. He’s thirsty. He wants to walk over to the jug of cold water on the table by the door. He needs to get up. He can’t.
He won't cry. It’s stupid to cry over this.
Verin gurgles.
“I hate you.” Essek curls his fingers around his elbows. “I hate you. I hate you.”For as long as Essek can remember, he has been cursed to obey. He has managed, in his own way, to mitigate the consequences of the curse while pursuing his academic and personal desires. It is only after being commanded to act as a guide for the Mighty Nein that it becomes a true complication.

Summary
It’s... the stupidest thing.
Essek grits his teeth. It’s a trained habit - a way to redirect some of the pain without showing any symptoms. A Shadowhand never shows his hand, and it is this he excels at - a poker face, a well-concealed illusion of poise and grandeur and tolerance.
But today, he is unlucky.
Because there is little that escapes the keen mind of Widogast - and here he has quite the disadvantage.
It is, quite literally, his least favored terrain.
Stairs.
---When keeping mages in an enclosed terrarium, please keep in mind the following: They need lots of places to hide and explore. Provide enrichment opportunities for them to keep them from getting bored - plenty of books, hidden treasures, and secret chambers. And if you're feeling bold, think about including an Anti-Magic staircase just to challenge them. See what they do with it.
