"Fuck..." Phoenix mumbled, adjusting his scarf self-consciously as he crushed the barf bag, stuffing it into his pocket for good measure. Edgeworth and Trucy didn't really acknowledge him as he began walking away. His heart pounded. A part of him wanted to just stay behind, but he found himself at his beck and call. He looked around, making sure that no one was watching. The toilet was closed, yet read 'vacant'. Phoenix uneasily glanced back at Trucy and Edgeworth.
Particularly at Edgeworth.
His heart squeezed.
Then, he opened the door, and Kristoph Gavin smiled.
Phoenix wished that he'd asked first why the fuck he was in his flight, why he hadn't told him, why he had dropped the letter, but all he could do was walk over and immediately kiss the blonde idiot.
OR
Miles brings Phoenix and Trucy along for a business trip. Kristoph Gavin haunts Phoenix, as well as the idea that the love of his life's heart has already been taken by someone else.

Soon enough, Miles and Phoenix are sitting on the opposite ends of the sofa. There’s a box of tissues between them, as well as a packet of apple-scented lubricant for Phoenix and a blueberry muffin-flavoured one for Miles. One of his favourite porn videos is playing on his TV. It’s vintage, but not all of his favourites are. The scandal is almost thrilling, Miles has to admit, but since they’re also what Larry calls ‘besties for lifers’ it’s mostly gauche and cringeworthy. He wishes he could call it off, but he’s too frozen with terror to move. He hopes Phoenix still respects him somewhat after this.

After celebrating their victory over a case involving Phoenix's ex-girlfriend, he and Miles get drunk at the prosecutor's house and watch porn together.
Unfortunately, Miles is in love with his best friend.

Arthur doesn’t particularly miss his twenties, much less his early twenties. His early twenties did not have Alfred as his partner. His early twenties did not have his children. His early twenties did not have his career or money. Basically, his early twenties did not have the things most important to him now. His early twenties were wild and exhausting – but fun. It isn’t that Arthur regrets his twenties. Heavens, no. But he does prefer what he has now.
But there’s something he does miss from his early twenties. Alfred only knows a few things about it, but that's because Arthur has never spoken much about it. He only tells Alfred as much as he needs to know, which isn’t a lot. He’s left that life behind, after all.
But when he sees an old chum still very much engaged with this ‘lifestyle’, giving him a tempting offer, Arthur’s resolve crumbles.

Neither of them speaks, but it’s because neither of them really knows what to say. It’s so fucking cold and their lips are chapped and Alfred’s shivering. He’s shivering a lot. But they don’t say a word for those reasons, though they’re valid reasons enough. They both know that.
And they’re grown men who’ve had exes who aren’t each other. They’ve danced with other men, women, sometimes someone in between, or neither, or everything. They’ve fallen for all different kinds of people, people who aren’t each other. They know the rules. It’s a standard, really. You aren’t obliged to converse with your ex. Sometimes it’s encouraged. Block that asshole, he can go fuck himself, never liked him anyway. Whatever. The works.
But Alfred’s sitting at the bench where they first met, and Arthur had every intention of sitting there, too. Not for sentimental reasons, though. Of course not.

Oh god, that was bad. Absolutely terrible. Arthur could tell that Alfred’s heart had been stolen already. It was too late. This really was awfully, terribly bad.
Needless to say, Arthur was completely and utterly in denial that another had stolen his boyfriend’s heart. But then again, Alfred was weak to those with golden hair and sweet faces. Arthur knew that quite well. He really should have seen this coming; he had witnessed it several times, even in the middle of dates, the way Alfred would suddenly stop, stare, and even engage.
But still, Arthur could not help but question why, of all times! When they were perfectly complete and happy!
Could this mean that it was only Arthur that felt this way? That was satisfied with their arrangement? Or, god forbid, was their little family of three not sufficient to Alfred anymore?
Aghast with the idea, Arthur said: “I demand you return that puppy to Ludwig this instant!”
