Or: Danny names a duplicate and via ghost logic, said duplicate ends up becoming real.

A human body typically processes being possessed by a demon as a series of unpleasantly nonsensical supernatural stimuli. When the human knows it's a demon, or if the demon is being particularly malicious, it can be intensely painful.
He's never heard of anyone being possessed by someone they love with their entire being.
