“No, who exactly?“ Max hissed, “because I ordered them not to hurt you and I will cut their fucking heads off for defying their commands.“The provinces' war against the empire has been raging for years, but finally, Max Verstappen and his rebel army are close to bringing their enemies to their knees. The dire situation has the empire's most powerful warrior, Charles Leclerc, il predestinatio, running right into Max's arms in an attempt to stop him before it's too late. Max wants the empire's darling for himself, but their relationship is much more complex than that of a villain and hero, king and concubine. Though Charles is chained and collared, nothing is really as it seems.

“I’m difficult,” Max repeats. Sebastian strokes the back of his head, running his hand through his messy, ash-blond hair.
“Do you think I was easy? Being a teenager is tough—you go through so many changes. It’s a hard time.”
“But you’re such a good dad—it’s unfair.” Seb’s heart aches as he feels Max’s warm tears soaking into his shirt. He keeps stroking Max’s hair.
“Oh but, Liebling!” He slowly rocks his son back and forth. “It’s not unfair at all! I love being a dad. I love being your dad! Sure, being a father is hard sometimes, but I’m living life for the first time too, just like you are. We’re figuring it all out together.”
It seems like Max nods, but maybe it’s just because he’s started sobbing even harder.or, Life has been hard on Max and Charles, but now they have each other, maybe things will become better?
