“I’m sorry, I think you’ve got the wrong number,” the woman cut her off.
Vi felt her face go so hot she was sure that it was visibly steaming in the winter air. Of course it was a fucking wrong number - just the cherry on top of an already shit morning. She struggled to conjure up some sort of apology. Instead, what came out was, “Oh. Well, thank god, because I was feeling really bad about yelling at someone who sounds so sexy.”
As soon as the words left her mouth she wished she had a spare hand to cram them back inside. She was considering just abruptly hanging up when a breathy chuckle filtered across the line.
“Awfully bold for someone who’s ranting about cement to a stranger at eight o’clock in the morning.”

Vi throws an arm around Caitlyn’s shoulders, pulling her in until their faces are only inches apart. She flashes a suggestive grin, “I wouldn't even think of doing anything less than the best for you, cupcake.”
When Caitlyn pauses, Vi worries for a moment that maybe she was too obvious.
But then Caitlyn chuckles, it's low and inviting, reaching her hand up to cup Vi’s jaw, pulling them even closer. They’re nose to nose and everything about Caitlyn is overwhelming her senses. The melodic sound of her laugh. The gleam in her eyes that makes Vi feel transparent. The tingling sensation in Vi’s jaw that stroking fingers leave in their wake. The smell of old books and the coffee she just drank.
Would she taste like that too?
“Of course, I know how eager you are to please, darling” Caitlyn coos at her. She strokes her thumb lovingly across Vi’s jaw again.

She's wanted to kiss Caitlyn since the cab ride over this morning, and she can't handle being slightly drunk and frustrated and turned on, and still expect herself to have any sort of restraint when Caitlyn's mouth is right there. So she pulls her in and Caitlyn does absolutely nothing to fight it, just falls against Vi and kisses her for so long that the bartender has to threaten to kick them out just for them to stop.
