She sighed, getting out of her nest, well, Spottedpaw’s nest, was always a struggle. She saw Spottedpaw squinting back at her as she got up, half-asleep.
“Where are you going…” the dappled she-cat whined, moving her paws, signalling for Brindlepaw to come back.
“Shh, Stormtail wants me.”
“Git.” she snarled weakly.
Brindlepaw took in how pretty Spottedpaw looked, soft and sleepy, barely able to form a sentence. She hated leaving her, but Stormtail was a lot stricter than Featherwhisker.

The question caught Sirius off guard, although he should’ve known it was flitting around Regulus’s mind. Regulus had always answered questions with questions, refusing to tip his hand unless forced.

Regulus’s eyes widened once more, as if he was genuinely surprised by Sirius’s answer. “I’m trying, Siri, I--”
