Summary
After running almost every possible scenario, Mr. House has determined that there are only two players with the capabilities necessary to bring the Enclave to its knees. After narrowly escaping the deathclaw, Lucy and the Ghoul survive a close call that forces them to rely on each other in unexpected ways.
A moment of vulnerability strengthens their fragile partnership before they head to Freeside, where a questionable dose of medication sets off dangerous consequences.
Lucy starts going through withdrawal from the drugs. She needs help. The Ghoul — who admittedly started and maintained her addiction — has to practically carry her all the way to Freeside.
Once there, they manage to get her more Buffout… or so they think... Why is Lucy's heart racing so fast? Has the Ghoul always looked like this?
When powerful forces seize Lucy, the Ghoul is pushed into a desperate race against time. Old enemies resurface, uneasy alliances form, and buried truths come to light.

Lucy felt her heart catch in her throat.
This was it. Lucy gulped. Air once more felt scarce. What would she do? Could she, could she lie her way out of it? She bit her lip painfully to stop herself from crying. But then it hit her. He didn't know just yet. Atleast she didn't think he did. Otherwise he would have disposed of her already. He knew something was up just not what. She had the ability to diffuse the situation. She couldn't say "nothing" as that would be a blatant lie. So instead she reached for the first thing that came to mind:
"I have a crush on you."
What if season 1 ended with Lucy securing cold fusion? How would this build tension and lead to a subsequent sense of betrayal with the ghoul? That is what this fic aims to explore.
