Suguru dead-eyes him across the table.
“Please listen to me, man.” Satoru says.
“No.” Suguru responds in that long suffering way that means he’s going to listen to Satoru but he’s gonna be pissy about it first. “It’s, fucking, 7AM.” Suguru adds. Suguru is not a morning person. It’s why Satoru went and bought the fancy coffee Suguru likes and breakfast sandwiches and red bean buns. He had to go to the bakery across town to get those.
“It’s so important.” Satoru tells him.
“Your opening gambit at 7-fucking-AM was ‘say I’ve gotten into anal play lately, why do I leak cum before I cum?’” Suguru says with a glare.
“Yeah.” Satoru says.
Suguru glares even harder.
“Well, you could answer me at least.” Satoru huffs, crossing his arms over his chest.
“I hope you fall off a bridge and die.” Suguru tells him, but he’s unwrapping a breakfast sandwich and pulling the lid off one of the cups of coffee, so.
“I hope you do too.” Satoru says amicably, taking a seat. He pushes some napkins toward Suguru and switches out the breakfast sandwich. Suguru likes the ones with avocado better. “So why do I?”

“Am I dirty?” he asked before he could think better of it.
Suguru looked him up and down with a curious expression, squinting, searching for something that could explain whatever the hell was going on. “Huh? No… you look fine to me.”
That’s not what I meant. Am I filthy, or am I pure?
“Are—are you sure?” It came out weak, brittle. He lightly unclasped the hand from Suguru’s jacket which he was still holding, leaving it just hovering over the fabric. He was scared he’d burn Suguru again, but he was more scared about being unclean. “What about my hands?”
Without reservation, Suguru gently took Satoru’s hand from the jacket and then lifted the other, still pressed to Satoru’s chest, into his own small palms. He turned his hands till his palms faced God, and Lord, did they burn, but before he could pull back, Suguru held them firmly, thumbs brushing over the lines and grooves of his palms, steady, careful, unflinching.
“All clean, ‘Toru. I promise. See?”
Satoru did not believe him.
Or, Satoru wrestles with God, the Bible, and the slow, undeniable realization that he is in love with his best friend, Suguru.

He opens his mouth to start his barrage of questions. Suguru turns around. Satoru’s voice dies in his throat, the moment he lays eyes on Suguru’s face. He looks exactly the same. Just how he did, before he left for that mission. Satoru stares at him with wide eyes. Those eyes. They tell him that the person standing before him is, indeed, Getou Suguru.
The six eyes see Getou Suguru.

Instead, the guy who shows up is tall, too charming, chaotic, and casually lists a film that’s banned in multiple countries as his favorite. He also may or may not be threatening him—but in a hot way? Yuuji is panicking, his friends are useless, and his survival instincts are tragically overridden by how devastatingly pretty the man is when he smiles.
When Gojo spots a nervous cutie sitting alone, clearly waiting for someone, he sees an opportunity—and Gojo does not let good opportunities go to waste. He’s only here for sweets and chaos, but the more time he spends with Yuuji, the more he realizes the truth. He might have lied his way into this date, but the connection? That part’s real. Terrifyingly real.
He’s in too deep, and unfortunately for everyone involved, he likes it there.

It started as work. Yuuji saves lives—that’s what he does. That should’ve been the end of the story.
But the patient in Room 214 keeps pulling him back in.
Maybe it’s just that the man is lonely. That’s what Yuuji tells himself the first time he checks in off-duty. And then again the second time. And the third. It’s only fair, right? Someone’s got to make sure he’s getting the full inpatient experience. Flowers, a stuffed animal, and a homemade bento—rice bunnies and all.
But the more time he spends with Satoru, the more confusing things get.
Like why does he keep looking at Yuuji like that? Why does he keep calling him 'angel' like it means something? Why does Yuuji like it?
What begins as kindness quickly spirals into something Yuuji doesn't quite understand, but immediately wants more of it. He’s got a heart full of feelings, a bouquet of crushed flowers, and a new, slightly inconveniently timed realization about his own sexuality.
Good thing Satoru is here for it, even if he's the cause of it.

Shoko does not walk around a point; she barrels towards it and leaves Satoru to pick up its pieces. But not for this. Satoru’s hands are red enough already, let him leave this where it lies.
His voice gives, cracking in two when he finally gathers the strength to whisper, “It might.”
“It didn't with Suguru.” Mentioning Suguru is taboo, like fucking in the pews of a church before marriage, semen running down the bride’s legs before she’s made a wife.
“He was different,” he tries.
Shoko turns around, pinning him under brown eyes that have no give. “Why? Because his choices were his own and he still picked the wrong ones?” She leans back against the counter. “Or because you were in love with him?”
Satoru imagined an eternity for them stretched out like the horizon. He never saw the end until it greeted him with a hole in its chest and at least curse me a little at the end on its lips.
“The love is different,” Shoko says, “but the pain will be the same.”
In all the worst ways, Yuji is just like Suguru.
