Choi Beomgyu has always lived his life with morbid curiosity and callousness but the appearance of Choi Yeonjun, the most beautiful person he has ever laid his eyes on, in his life makes him feel like redemption is possible for him.

Contrary to popular belief, Beomgyu is not a psychopath.
In his Theories of Criminology class, Beomgyu has learnt about the traits of a psychopath. They say that psychopaths lack empathy and sympathy. However, Beomgyu does not think he lacks those. In fact, he may even feel too much sometimes. Sure, maybe he is strange but he does not think that he is a psychopath.
This nickname has been given to him in that very class. The lecturer had shown all the students a question on screen:
A girl is attending her mother’s funeral. There, she meets a guy who is amazing and is definitely her ideal type. She falls in love with him at first sight. A few days later, she kills her sister. What do you think is her motive in killing her sister?

Summary
Choi Yeonjun tries his best to identify The Poet, the serial killer who has been terrorising South Korea over the past few months. Along the way, he struggles to keep up with his relationship with his husband, Choi Beomgyu, as their third wedding anniversary is coming up.

Yeonjun sighs. “I’m sorry,” he says.
A sad smile forms on Beomgyu’s lips. “It’s fine,” he tries to wave it off but the sadness is still evident in his eyes. “It’s not your fault. It wasn’t like you were the one who murdered people, anyways.”
“But still–”
“We’re still on for Tuesday night, right?” Beomgyu interrupts him in a small voice as he stuffs the plate inside the fridge and closes the door. Yeonjun feels his own heart ache as his husband peers at him with a hopeful look on his face.
Tuesday. Their anniversary. They have a reservation at one of the most expensive restaurants in town which sells the best steak. They have been planning this before the whole fiasco with The Poet happens.

Summary
Choi Yeonjun finds himself being held at gunpoint by his former lover, Choi Beomgyu, while he is attempting an assassination. Complicated feelings and history ensue.
or alternatively;
“Put your hands up and turn around slowly,” a familiar voice says softly.
Yeonjun should feel scared. He is literally at gunpoint, for God’s sake. He should be afraid for his life and begging to be let go. His whole life should be flashing right in front of his eyes right now. Hell, if he were religious, he should be praying to God and asking for his life to be spared.
Perhaps, he is a little insane for finding this situation amusing and exciting. He went out to assassinate an important figure but the presence of his assailant is foiling his plan. Yet, he is not angry or upset about it. Instead, he thinks he is getting more than what he bargains for.
“I said, put your hands up and turn around slowly,” the familiar voice repeats in a firm tone.
“Or,” Yeonjun drawls in a way that he knows would irritate his assailant, “you can just kill me and get this over with.”

Summary
Three years and seven months of not receiving visitors in prison, Choi Yeonjun is surprised when his old friend, Kang Taehyun, pays him a visit to find out the truth behind the murder of Huening Kai, the former's lover, and what it has to do with their old mutual friend, Choi Beomgyu.
or alternatively;
Yeonjun closes his eyes and counts his breath as he breathes in and out. His therapist at the prison taught him that if he ever feels worked up and needs to calm down, breathing helps. At the tenth count, he opens his eyes and looks directly into his old friend’s eyes. “What do you want, Taehyun?” he repeats his question from earlier, wanting to get this visit over with as soon as possible.
“I want to fucking understand,” his old friend says with frustration evident in his voice. “I went to a police academy, I even studied criminology, I became a fucking cop, I did everything and yet, I still don’t understand why you did that to him.”
“Why I killed Kai,” Yeonjun corrects softly. Then, he takes in a deep breath before saying, “You can’t even face the fact that I murdered him and yet you have the audacity to come in here and demand answers from me.”
