Espresso paused, hearing a knock on his door. He looked at the time, wondering who would want to talk to him so late at night. He swiftly walked up and opened the door, raising his eyebrows in surprise at Strawberry Crepe. They shuffled nervously, unable to meet his gaze.
Or alternatively - Crepe has a nightmare and goes to Espresso for comfort for the first time ever. He feels a bit awkward but tries his best to distract them from their bad dreams anyway.

Summary
Viktor sees the moment Jayce starts to debate whether he's willing to betray Piltover and help him, or betray his former partner and lover and turn back to Piltover to finally apprehend Viktor and send him to Stillwater once and for all. Viktor knows he cannot bring himself to hate Jayce —after all, he's tried, all these years he's spent in Zaun after he was exiled from Piltover—, and that he'd understand either choice Jayce makes, but he's not prepared for the moment Jayce's expression shifts to one of determination as one of his arms envelops his waist while the other places Viktor's arm around his strong neck.
Slowly and steady, Jayce helps him across the bridge.

He does. More than he’s ever believed in anything else before.
“I do.”
After everything, John and Lisa leave New Haven behind.

John doesn’t even flinch when Father Garcia flicks his cigarette butt into the grass, crushes it beneath his heel, and then points the barrel of his shotgun right between his eyes.
Maybe John is afraid, buried deep beneath the haze of exhaustion. Maybe later when his battered head stops feeling like it's been stuffed with cotton and his ears stop buzzing like flies drawn to a rotting corpse, he’ll look back and wonder if he should have run while he had the chance to.
Instead, he almost laughs, a deep, hollow, and painfully empty thing that sounds too close to a sob. He almost laughs because after the month he’s had, a near stranger pointing a gun at his forehead barely scratches the bottom of the list of the worst dangers he’s been subjected to.
In which, surviving is the easy part. Living is the hard part.
