Summary
Once upon a time there was a tower, and a man who was foolish enough to trespass upon it.
After being dared by his friends to take a single rose from the garden of the dark tower outside of London, Hob Gadling discovers that he has inadvertently run afoul of the tower's keeper, a man who calls himself Dream, and who wields powerful magics. To prevent the deaths of his friends, Hob offers himself as a hostage: to be Dream's captive and confidant for all eternity, trapped together in the dark tower.
However, once there, Hob discovers deeper and deeper mysteries with each passing day. What is the significance of the roses? What is the beast that roams the gardens at night? Why will Dream offer him no answers, and why can none of his servants speak of the tower's past?

Remus had to take a deep, steadying breath as he stood there, awkwardly shifting from foot to foot, scratching the back of his head as his heart tripped in his chest. He couldn’t stop staring at Sirius Black, who was slowly wandering around Remus’s childhood bedroom, observing the posters and little knick-knacks on his shelves with rapt fascination, a look on his face akin to that of an art connoisseur in a museum. Remus knew he should stop watching him. He should talk, say something normal, but he couldn’t tear his eyes away. It was just…it seemed impossible.
Sure, James and Pete had both come to visit. During previous summers, one or both of them had always shown up for at least a few days, but Sirius had never been allowed. He’d been trapped at Grimmauld, hidden away every summer.
But this summer, it was different. He’d run away. He was free. He could do whatever he wanted and he’d chosen to…to spend two weeks with Remus?
The thought made Remus both blush with giddiness and frown with confusion. It didn’t make sense. But yet, he was here.

Summary
Castiel has long known Dean's secret talent for playing the piano, learned as a teenager in the boys' home, so it was no surprise that Dean hid himself away in the bunker to play after the Mark of Cain seized control of him again. Guilt plagued Dean as he sat at his piano but Castiel pushing him to think of his mother changed him. Together, they played songs Mary loved, which taught Dean to love Christmas again and made him feel close enough to Castiel to finally make his feelings known.

He gets drunk rather than deal with the fact that he broke his hand and he no longer has the strength to heal the injury. Drinking, on the other hand, loosens his tongue enough to finally confront Dean about just what they mean to each other.

With the Mark of Cain gone and The Darkness devouring the planet, Dean had somehow awoken from it all with the veil lifted from his eyes. He saw ghosts. He knew exactly where pods of mermaids swam in the ocean. Aliens, well, yes they were out there but they weren't interested in the colossal fuck up of Earth. Vampires, werewolves, and every other creature known to hunters (and many unknown)--yes, he could sniff them out easily if he tried. The putrid odor so intrinsic to demons? It was horrifyingly strong if they got within a few blocks. He didn't know why it happened or how, but it really was like having a veil lifted from his limited human sight. But all the things Dean saw since it happened never held a candle to the creature walking beside him, blue eyes fixed straight ahead. He stared. He couldn't help it. Shit, he'd never seen light so bright but so gentle, shimmering off the enormous black wings arching over his shoulders. Patches of liquid black light feathers were missing and left painfully scarred and burned flesh behind. The signs of periodic torture were everywhere but so were beautiful signs of a creature too powerful to be killed that easy.

Whether or not Sam understood the thinly veiled lie about needing to take a leak crossed Dean's mind. It didn't end up mattering by the time he'd hiked across the meadow into another treeline. They'd gotten used to clearing out of each other's ways over the years since they started entertaining romantic liaisons. It wouldn't take long, Dean thought. He just wanted a respite with Castiel to bask in the newness of it all. The unguarded intimacy brought about from his new ability to see through the veil between the physical and the spiritual was a bit like a high. He was secure in himself enough to admit he was a little bit addicted to Castiel since he began seeing him--really seeing him. The truth all along became clear. Castiel saved him and was saved in return because they had loved each other even before Dean's memory kicked in after Hell. Things were still so new and so complicated for him even if the angel understood everything the whole time in his steady, silent way.

Season 9 post-Fall fix-it where Sam is never possessed by Gadreel, and Cas is never thrown out of the bunker.
Instead, Cas is newly human, newly Omega, and Dean's True Mate, because of course he is. This brings out a whole other side of Dean that he never shows anyone, and never even really intended to show Cas, but finding out the love of your life is basically destined to be with you will do that.
Sam is happy for them, obviously, but not for himself and his dashed hopes of peace and quiet. :)

A brief kiss in the past left untouched and unacknowledged suddenly becomes so much more as Dean sees how deeply bonded Castiel is to him.
