Summary
After his mother dies under mysterious circumstances, Kaoru’s home is uncomfortable. It's too empty, each sound echoing down dusty corridors. There's nothing left to live for, not when his dad hates him and his siblings are never home. So he finds himself spending his time in town, by the pier his mom would take him to. And that's when he hears it.
A rumor.
A rumor that his mother’s death was due to an attacker. A rumor that someone killed her. A rumor that a vampire killed her.
And with an empty home, a dad who hates him, a married-off sister, and a brother doing God-knows-what, there's not a lot for Kaoru to live for, to come back to. So he crafts a plan—one in which he gets revenge for his mother. And it starts with going to that freaky castle to kill that damn vampire. Things do not go as planned.

Kaoru can’t help the incredulous laugh that bubbles up in his chest as his hands scrabble against Rei’s, “Oh, no way.” He pinches the meat of Rei's arm playfully, relishing in the hiss and pretty little glare he gets. “Come on, there’s no way that was your first kiss!”
Rei immediately sputters and it makes Kaoru laugh even more, “It wasn’t, it wasn’t! It was just-” He fumbles, and Kaoru pounces.
