Summary
Rico asks, casual, what Mello will want next, what he’ll aim for after he gets the notebook, and suddenly it’s like the ground has dropped out from underneath him, because the first thing that comes to mind is Near. His stomach sinks as he tries to regain some semblance of composure, fighting off imaginings both tender and cruel, furious with himself for being so weak-minded. Near, he thinks forcefully, is in the past. He isn’t an option for what’s to come— and even if he was, Mello wouldn’t want him.

That alone manages to have her let out another moan, this time muffled, as he works her up even more.
Or: a fic where Loid notices that Yor is a little stressed lately, so he proposes a harmless solution by giving her a back massage. However, that eventually leads to something a little more than what they both envisioned for tonight.

His answer did not take long to come, though it felt to Patroclus as though it did. What he was asking for was different than what they had done thus far; different even than the first time Patroclus had bowed his head between Achilles’ thighs, and made him choke out his pleasure.
A gaze the colour of sea glass finally turned back to Patroclus. “You want this?” Achilles asked.
Patroclus swallowed, “Yes,” he answered honestly.

Patroclus and Achilles have never hid anything from one another. When Patroclus tells Achilles that Briseis has kissed him, has confessed feelings for him, Achilles cannot explain the feeling that’s brewing in him at first. He realizes a moment later the sick feeling in his stomach is jealousy.

“In order for you to be revered for years to come, we must offer a sacrifice,” Thetis says simply, as if inquiring about the weather. “Patroclus has been chosen.”
A virgin sacrifice is required to ensure that Achilles's expedition to Troy reigns successful.

Near was idly rooting around in his toy box with his head down, long hair falling in a stringy curtain around his face, when Mello walked loudly into headquarters.
“I got you something,” he announced. “A toy.”
“Oh?” Near said absentmindedly. “Thank you. Toss it in.”
Mello snorted, and Near finally looked up, white hair falling out of his eyes. The first and most obvious hint that something was amiss was that Mello was hiding it behind his back, but his posture was different as well. He looked almost defensive, like he thought he was about to be scolded. Then he shifted, and it was gone; he looked more like himself, standing tall with a smirking face.
“It’s not that kind of toy,” he said.

“Mello is here because he cannot leave the elevator,” Near offers. His attempt at humor fails to amuse even him. Playfulness vanishes gradually, leaving in its stead a sullen, skeletal young man.
