"It just works better like that. Taking his mind off of the logistics and the meaning of it all and the implications lets him put that focus to better work on the actual thing he cares about: hockey. It really isn’t that different from outsourcing his branding to Mom, or any less embarrassing than his dietician meal prepping for him or his trainer mapping out his workout plan. They’re experts in their field, nutrition and marketing and fucking. Shane is an expert in his: taking all that into his body and using it to be fucking awesome at hockey. It’s win, win, win.
Meals get delivered at his door. Room numbers and plans get texted to him. And appointments with photographers get emailed with subject lines reminding him to remember to use the good shampoo in his hair before them.
He’s still in control in the sense he’s letting it all happen for him, except that sometimes, especially at these stupid fucking photoshoots, it feels a little bit like it’s happening to him, instead."
Shane gets into a bad situation with a photographer who has pictures Shane would rather not get out. Ilya and Rose find out about it, eventually.

When he turns his head to glance inside, eyes seeking for something to do without a customer to handle, Benson sees how his hair’s matted down to his forehead under the bill of his cap, sees the sparkle of sweat above his lip. Bradley doesn’t notice him looking, never does, but especially not now as he wavers in his spot in front of the register from the movement. His eyelids flutter a little, and Benson thinks too belatedly that the kid’s gonna eat tile if he doesn’t sit down.Benson looks away, back down to the table, squeezing his eyes shut hard for a second and pressing his thumb to the spot between his brows. The heat’s making his mind run too fucking slow.

He eyes Benson’s jacket one more time before turning to grab a dishrag and heading back to the counter. He passes by Benson mopping near one of the back tables and, this close, he’d know he was passing by Benson even with his eyes closed. He always smells like what Randy imagines the smoking section of a bar is like.That was the other tell, he realizes belatedly — the green coat smells like musty cigarettes. Rained-through and dredging up to surface all the stale smoke embedded in the threads.

You didn’t waste any time starting compressions. That probably saved that baby’s life. You saved that baby’s life.”
The praise goes to his head, suffusing him with endorphins. “Thank you, Dad.” And he promptly wants to crawl out of his skin and slither down the drain with the after birth slop.

Who is he? He doesn’t know. Why doesn’t Bucky know, if they’ve brought him here? He thought they knew him as Steve. He scowls at the blanket, furious with how his head is reeling. He knows this question. “Nothing,” he replies. He is nothing.
There is silence from Bucky for a long moment, like Bucky is gathering himself to ask another question. “Do you have a name?” comes next.
“You called me Steve,” he replies, nails digging into his palms from where his hands have clenched.
After Civil War, after Bucky has had his time to begin recovering, to come home, Steve gets captured by HYDRA. Nine months he's with them. It takes nine months for Sam and Bucky and the other Avengers to get him back and when they do, the person they recover is barely a person at all.
