He believes he’s justified in his decision; petty, maybe, but really, what’s the appropriate reaction to discovering the guy you helped kill nearly seven years ago isn’t exactly dead, albeit in the form of a small amphibian now?
The answer is sealing said not-dead-guy-who’s-supposed-to-be-dead in a jar to keep an eye on him, then begrudgingly and aggressively stabbing holes in the lid for air because Rain told him to because Stella asked and because Ciara threatened him to because Stella asked and because Stella asked him to because well—it’s Stella.

Apollo had looked significantly more tired; skittish, even. It grew worse when Lance proposed weaponising the End Crystals against the Nether and Overworld.
Amidst their objections, Skylor had noticed Apollo with a faraway gaze; fear. But the sight was brief, and Apollo had seemed to return from wherever his thoughts had been to shake his head disappointedly at Lance.
Skylor is the leader of the Gatekeepers; ruler of the Gateways. The portals she and her people look after stand for travel, for liberty.
Apollo is the End's Oracle of the Skies; ruler of the Moon Kingdom. His gift from the gods is rare, and when he was first crowned, solitude was presented to him as protection.
Was it so strange that they got along?

Summary
Hilda has had a failure of love life, to put it simply. But then, the Overworld-Nether war reached a new point, and with that new point came Nostra.
Curt, blunt, egotistical, and from seemingly nowhere, but competent Nostra. They're just as skilled as they are full of themself, so Hilda supposes there isn’t much room to complain or question them.
Except—she wonders if that still applies if she’s being made to interact with them against her will.

At this point, Fegelin wonders if he should petition to add a sign in the infirmary lobby that displays the number of days that have passed since the last non-war-related injury and a mugshot of the injured patient, just to warn others to be more careful: they’re already stretched thin as it is, and there doesn’t seem to be an end to their sleepless nights of working overtime.
Some would say it’s degrading, particularly the infirmary director, but as long as Fegelin and his colleagues can have some breathing room and time after the Battle of the Far Plains to restock on supplies properly, he doesn’t care.
To a degree, at least.
