Summary
The moment Hicks had long feared arrived. He was chosen in the ring to kill the monstrous Nightmare in front of the whole village. But since Hicks had met Toothless, he no longer saw dragons as mere monsters, but in their true nature.
Killing the dragon was not an option for him, so he decided to do the only right thing. Flee from Berk and save the dragons from the arena in the process.
Hicks already has a more than strong and quite special connection with Toothless, but unlike what they had planned, they will not flee Berk just the two of them and the five freed dragons. During their escape, they accidentally discover a black-haired girl named Heather. Without family, friends, a home, or anything at all, she decides to join Hiccup and Toothless. After all, when they first met, Hiccup gave her a feeling she had never felt before with anyone else. Hiccup was special, and not just when it came to dragons.
Together, the three of them, accompanied by the dragons rescued from the arena, travel across the vast ocean. They will fight their enemies, free dragons, gain new allies, and, along the way, the relationship between Hiccup and Heather will develop and become something more personal. -

Hiccup didn’t think twice about being called and answering to brother when Dagur and Heather called. In hindsight, though, he probably should have been a bit more careful about it. Not everyone had the luxury of knowing all that history.
Scratch that: he really should have been more careful with that, because now he was fairly certain the bounty hunter chasing him had called him Egilson spawn.
Which, to be clear, an Egilson he was not. Haddock, yes. Third in a series of three and counting, might he add. Egilson? Not on that bounty hunter’s life.

Even the liviest and most loyal ones can disappear without a trace. No one knows what is happening until one day one corpse of a dragon is found.
What first was seen as a week full of coincidentally missing cases turns into an age of paranoïa, fear and deaths as slowly, dragons aren't the only victims.
