Summary
There was no better weather a sailor could ask for today. The sky looked as if it were an extension of the sea, as there wasn’t a cloud in sight. The sun’s heat was strong, but not scalding. There was the usual sea-side breeze that swept through the air, perfect to fill the sails of any ship. Those well versed in navigating the open sea would tell you the current conditions couldn’t be any more perfect.
Except for Mitsuba though. Merfolk weren’t built for perfect sunny weather. He was just about miserable! How was he supposed to spy on ships and humans in these conditions?!

A voice echoed out from behind the rocks. Kou swiftly turned on his heels, hoping to see that his mystery mermaid had finally revealed themself. His face beamed with joy, as his eyes scanned the rocky waters.
Then the mermaid spoke again,
“You should be grateful I’m gracing you with my presence! I never thought I’d give someone with a hideous, tacky earring like yours the time of day but here we are…”
And just like that, Kou’s smile morphed into confusion, his eyebrows furrowing.
He began to process the other’s words,
‘Tacky earring? Be grateful? Why so arrogant?!’————
