After a Fire Nation attack at sea, young Katara is separated from her family and rescued by Hama, who raises her in secret to one day use her for revenge. Hidden away, Katara dreams of seeing the mysterious floating lights that grace her window once a year up close.
Her chance comes when the Blue Spirit takes refuge in her home, fleeing from pursuing soldiers. Katara seizes his stolen bounty and offers a deal: she will return it if he takes her to see the lights. What begins as a reluctant alliance becomes a perilous journey full of danger, adventure, and unexpected connection, forcing them both to confront their pasts and the world outside.

Summary
They had no idea when things started changing between them. Maybe it was instantaneous- like lava meeting water, hardening in an instant with a furious hiss of ember and steam.
Or perhaps it was the little things - reading Fire Nation plays by the turtleduck pond as the setting sun painted the water gold, stories and legends traded like treasures beside a crackling fire in the unending night of the South Pole.
Or it was in the whispered tales of mothers and siblings and uncles and gran grans - each shared word a delicate thread pulling them closer and closer.
No matter how one thing was sure- they were no longer strangers, a thorn in each other's paths. Neither friends nor foes, neither warm nor cold but something in between. Somehow, somewhere along the way, in their dreams and only in their dreams, Katara and Zuko found each other.
In other words - Katara and Zuko start meeting each other in their dreams and shenanigans ensue.

It's been five years since the end of the war, and marriage is the word on everyone's minds. But Katara knows what that really means. First comes marriage, and then children. She has been shackled with the responsibility of carrying on the airbender line before it goes completely extinct--and it's a mantle she has prepared herself well to take on. Meanwhile, the Fire Council has enforced an age-old law upon Zuko: marry by age 21 or forfeit the throne. One too many assassination attempts has them all feeling a bit nervous, and they want to guarantee the royal line. Zuko has resigned himself to a dull, loveless arranged marriage for the good of his nation.
But then he and Katara are brought back together unexpectedly, forced to work alongside one another. And it quickly becomes impossible to forget what happened between them and the secrets they swore to keep.
