Enid studied the imprints on the plastic like they had the answers to every question she had ever asked. Wednesday drummed her fingers on the table, drawing Enid’s eye to them. She did this drumming often when she was waiting for something, and now that it was happening so close Enid couldn’t stop watching.
The soft thud thud thud thud of all four of her fingers hitting the wood was hypnotic, and the dexterity of those fingers had Enid in a trance.
