Summary
A myriad of bottles of different shapes and sizes lined the counter, from face wash to cough syrup. There was a rectangular mirror above the sink, but the corner was chipped and tiny faded stickers decorated its edges. The tiny garbage can next to the toilet was overflowing with paper wrappers and paper towels. Dirty laundry littered the floor. It was mostly Nezumi's.

He lets himself quicken his pace, almost jogging down his block. When he reaches his door, he can feel his breath catch. Overwhelmed. Lost. A part of him keeps repeating like a mantra. Mine, finally back. I will never let him go.
The scent of worn books invades his senses, and he lets his eyes close to regain control.
He should ask if it’s possible to hallucinate smells.
But… it shouldn’t be possible. Not if he looks closely at the hunched figure against his door. Covered from head to toe. It’s not exactly like the images he has in his mind. Nor is it pristine like in those strange dreams that often haunt him. It’s just a body bundled up as much as possible against the cold, with eyes closed, dry lips, longer hair.
But Shion knows, from the deepest part of his heart, he knows. Nezumi is the person collapsed against his door.

In this world, people have dates on their wrists that demarcate Life-Changing Events (LCEs). Nezumi's first LCE marked the day his entire family died, so he spent the next eleven years dreading the new date that appeared on his wrist the morning after the massacre.
When the day of Nezumi's second LCE finally comes, he meets a man who introduces himself as Shion and who has the same LCE date on his wrist. Nezumi knows from experience that LCEs are things to dread, so he waits for Shion to destroy his life.I wrote this fic two years ago and thought it was unfinished, but turns out it just needed another few paragraphs.
