His muscles, and even his bones, would start aching. His stomach would start cramping. His nerve endings would be screaming louder than they were even now.

He loved the way it felt in his mouth. There was a newness in the word that would take getting used to just as a fiance had, but husband also seemed so natural. It was like the word had been written in their souls, illuminating the day they met at that night on the scene of that wreck.
“Husband,” TK said, his voice filled with love and their future.

He laid his gear in a neat row on the floor in front of him and his pulse quickened in anticipation. He knows exactly what a safe dose is. It’s his job, after all, and he is nothing if not good at his job. He’s a Strand. It’s what they do. They excel at their work above and beyond the call of duty. They put out fires in the world around them while burning their own lives to the ground.
TK was very good at the second part of that. It was the one area in which he was even more proficient than Owen. He was a goddamn prodigy in the art of self-destruction.
An alternate ending to Season 3 Episode 8. What if nobody had interrupted TK when he tried to take the Fentanyl? What if Carlos found him in the aftermath?
