Summary
Stede had approached carefully. This was the moment. He remembered Mary’s warning - that Ed would likely be quite upset, and that this would need to be handled delicately. He’d stopped far enough that he wouldn’t make Ed feel crowded, but close enough to look, almost close enough to touch.
They’d stared at each other for a moment. The air was tense, thick with something that felt important, a silence Stede was hesitant to break. But he needed to break it anyway, needed to tell Ed he was sorry, needed to tell him what happened, how he felt.
He’d opened his mouth, begun to say something, he couldn’t even remember what, when -
“Captain!” Frenchie had shouted.
Then it had all gone wrong.

Summary
Frenchie was a mess of anxiety as they approached the small dinghy. Captain Blackbeard had had them on the lookout for anything that might be the crew for a day and a half now, so when Jim had spotted a small dot on the horizon, chaos had broken out on the Revenge as they all tried to figure out what the dot was - and more importantly, keep Izzy from figuring it out first.

Summary
Black Pete was a pirate’s pirate, dedicated to the lifestyle. He’d fashioned himself after his greatest hero, Blackbeard, even if he hadn’t been able to grow a beard himself (couldn’t even grow much hair at all). But he was determined to be a great pirate. Make a name for himself, you know? One day they’d tell stories about the Dread Black Pete, fearsome scourge of the seas.
That was his dream when he set off on the Revenge. He soon realized he’d picked the wrong ship for his goals, and tried to make things happen on his own terms, fomenting mutiny, trying to gain control of the crew and establish himself as a leader. He could still be the Dread Black Pete, even if at this point he didn’t have any kills to his name and his only coin came from a paycheck, not from plunder. Hell, if he played things right, he could have his own ship, easy peasy.
It wasn’t so easy peasy. Captain Bonnet turned out to be a lot tougher - a lot cooler - than Pete had anticipated, and he stuck around. He wasn’t even so bad to work for.

Summary
Captain Bonnet was not the best sailor.
They all knew that. After months of being on the Revenge with him, the crew knew that it was best to let the captain stay out of the way, or give him minor chores to do that let him feel like he was contributing but were impossible to mess up.
But now, watching him try to manage a dinghy with seven men in it and no plan of where to go, Buttons was struck anew by just how badly Captain Bonnet was in need of the support of his crew.
And especially a good navigator.

Summary
Izzy Hands was at the helm when they arrived at the little spit of land where they’d marooned the crew.
This was a mistake.
A mistake because he should not have been there. It was nighttime, and just so happened to be Izzy’s watch. The rest of the crew, having poorly judged the distance remaining to the island, the speed of the Revenge, and the favor of the winds, had gone to bed believing that they would arrive safely while Izzy was still resting from his nighttime shift tomorrow.
It was also a mistake because -
“What the fuck?”

Summary
As Buttons and Roach began to chase the Swede around their tiny island, he contemplated their situation. He figured that he’d die here, on this little spit of land in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the idiots he’d come to consider almost family - but not his real family, no, not Jim. Whether it would be dehydration, heat stroke, or Button’s false teeth, one way or another, Oluwande was pretty sure this was the end.
He wasn’t sure he could find it in himself to care at this moment. He was hot, and thirsty, and tired. He should probably get up and step in to stop the three way battle now occurring (the Swede was putting up a surprisingly good fight, actually). They’d once elected him their captain and what was he doing now? Pouting on the beach? Looking out at the water, actually. And maybe that was a good thing, because he could see a dot on the horizon. Was that… a boat? A very small one, possibly, but still. A boat! Maybe he wouldn’t die on this tiny island.
He took out his scope…
“Oh, fuck me,” Oluwande muttered.

Summary
Jim relaxed slightly, lowering their knife but throwing a threatening glare Fang’s way. The three of them crammed into Jim’s tiny room. As Lucius told his spectacular tale, Jim began to feel a little reluctant admiration for Fang. Not only had he put himself at risk, but it sounded like a pretty badass rescue. And keeping Lucius hidden while he recovered, knowing that if Blackbeard or Izzy found out he’d be screwed?
“Alright, I won’t kill you. Today. You mentioned a plan. What are we going to do?”
“Yeah, what’s the plan?” a voice came from the hallway.
“Madre de Dios!” they whirled around, knife at the ready for the third time that afternoon.
No one snuck up on Jim Jimenez. Except, it seemed, Blackbeard himself.

Summary
A splash. A yelp. A cry for help. A… shoe?
Did someone fall overboard again?
Fang sighed heavily as he went over to the window where he’d seen the shoe go past. He knew several of the crew were drinking up on the deck where they were still planning out the talent show. After a long day at the helm, however, he’d just wanted a chance to relax a little, smoke his pipe. That’s why he’d opened the window in the first place. Now it seemed he’d be performing a rescue for…
The little artist boy! He recognized those cries!

Summary
There was a man walking between the headstones, and he didn’t look like any man she had ever encountered. Tall, and dressed all in black leather. He must be sweltering, Mary thought. She was already overheated in her petticoats. The man had wild graying hair falling to his shoulders and a short salt-and-pepper beard. He looked dangerous. He looked like someone you didn’t want to cross. In a word, he looked like a pirate.
Damn it, Stede, she thought again.
Whoever this man was, she was certain that it was Stede’s fault that he was there. If he hadn’t run off playing pirate, she knew that a dangerous looking man who was almost certainly a pirate wouldn’t currently be wandering the Bonnet graveyard, no doubt looking for Stede’s “grave.”

Summary
Ed didn’t know how long had passed until something changed. A noise, perhaps, or a stirring in the air, alerted him to the fact that there was someone else in the room. And, well, he may be crying in the moonlight, but he was still Blackbeard. And no one snuck up on Blackbeard (especially when he was crying in the moonlight).
Silently, he drew a knife, then lunged at the body he could feel creeping up. Before he could blink he had the body pinned up against the wall in the dark. But the moonlight - the moonlight he had been so moved to allow into his rooms tonight - revealed his intruder’s face.
“Stede,” he whispered.
“Hello, Ed,” Stede whispered back, a soft smile on his face that didn’t match the dagger being held to his throat.
