Obligatory addition to AO3HOF because it's a sequel to a pre-existing work in AO3HOF (First Aid Kits and Deep Secrets).
This doesn't seem to be finished, but it's already looking really good. I'm loving the tone of this one so far, and I can only hope for more updates.

I'm not sure how you authors do it, but you manage to make me emotional every time.. This was an amazing fic and I very highly recommend reading it. It's hard to get me attached to side characters in fics- usually because their arcs don't seem to be important, but in this fic I found it much easier to care about the side characters' stories. In fact, what I thought were just 'side characters' ended up my personal favorite characters- Tosix, Kepa, and Anthias.

A hooded figure her size edges into the light, their arm raised and pointed at her warily. Sasha can see the glint of the arrowhead attached to some mechanism - a crossbow? - wrapped around their limb. They were too tall and gangly to be Grime or any of her toads. Maybe a newt?
Sasha stiffens, her face twisting up in a snarl as she dropped into another fighting position- offensive this time. She didn't know how far the creature behind her was and faced with a long-ranged weapon she was in the weaker position, but maybe if she used their close quarters to her advantage --
“Sasha?” the figure says in a voice that makes Sasha’s grip go so slack around her sword that she almost drops it.

What if Spinel was a lot less competent, and after failing to steal an injector or a rejuvenator, finds herself at the wrong address to boot? Instead of savior of the galaxy, the homicidal pink gem finds herself tied to the depressed, self-destructive human, Dusty?
(Not a self-insert or reader surrogate fic. I wanted to explore the idea of instead of Spinel finding comfort and healing in another just as damaged as her — a la Pink Pearl — she found someone whose broken edges were a little more sharp. There’s no smut in this whatsoever and never will be. Sex will be mentioned and referenced, but never detailed.)
