“Do you not like that you weren’t the one to give me these bruises?” He passed his fingers through his blonde hair, pushing back his bangs. “Are you the only one allowed to hurt me?”
“Yes,” he said, shockingly definitive. Izaya assumed there would be some denial.
It thickened his throat, and he swallowed; he could feel his heart stutter. It didn’t fill him with joy, like the human had; it felt sticky.
“You know I arranged it.”
“No shit.”
“Then why bother?”
“Because you’re mine.”
That flushed heat through his entire body like he was sunk into a vat of acid. The words were fundamentally human—to claim another—but so reminiscent of the barbarism that drove him up the wall. Izaya never saw himself as something to claim. That’s not how it worked.

“What are you doing?” Kururi asked softly as Izaya pulled out pots and pans. Looking through the fridge and pantry. Shizuo wondered the same.
Izaya set some ingredients down on the counter with a shrug.
“Making dinner.”Shizuo’s brow raised.
Mairu laughed, “Oh my god, you didn’t tell them you were coming!?”
What?
“Izaya,” Shizuo scolded in surprise.
The man turned around with a smile. “I haven’t seen them in a while; isn’t it nice to give surprise visits?”
Shizuo’s brow furrowed. “Not when you’re—“
“-Introducing a boyfriend,” Mairu finished for him.

Shizuo blinked.
This was a thought that never really occurred to him.
It made him laugh.
No way was he going to meet his mom. The idea was ridiculous. He couldn’t even imagine how embarrassing it would be to go, “Yes, Mother. I’m not going to give you grandchildren. The person who I live with is destroying my life.”
Shit, he hasn’t even told his parents what he does for a living.
“You’re not meeting my mother.”

He fully expected a knife at his neck, but it was just Izaya’s thumb pressing under his jaw. Two heavy kisses and Izaya sat up, straddling his chest with the ribbon in hand.
He didn’t understand him at all.
The maniac grabbed his injured hand and jerked it towards himself. Izaya quickly started wrapping it up in the cloth he had sliced away before Shizuo could resist. He watched him perplexed as Izaya was thorough, making loops around his fingers and tightening around his palm, then tucking and tying it.
He was about to ask why, but Izaya gave him an annoyed glance.
“You were bleeding too much,” he grunted with disdain.

Summary
“The HELL?” Shizuo yelled and ripped the knife from his clothing. The cigarette will be snapped. The cigarette will be stepped on.
“Do you really think your actions are forgivable, Shizu? I truly wonder if you're capable of complex thoughts. Times like these make me doubt it.” Izaya grabbed the nearest replaceable item. The snap happened quickly —he had to act fast. There was a standing lamp within his reach. That would do. He tossed it to Shizuo before he could grab the counter.
What an odd thing to do. To offer the person, who you have such conflicting feelings for, a weapon for hitting you with.
Izaya just didn’t want to replace the counter.

Summary
How did it happen? Where Shizuo and Izaya somehow him found themselves living domestically like this. Still in an endless battle of denial. They hated each other’s small details and mannerisms, they hated how they missed each other when they weren’t around.
Unfortunate events leading them to sleep in the same bed and Shizuo cooking for him, but still somehow arguing to his friends that they weren’t anything more than enemies. Enemies? Could he say that anymore?
