Summary
Prince Ludwig von Beilschmidt of Bavaria was having trouble with his faith as the air crackled with strife after the publication of the 95 Theses. He swayed to break away from it all, having always been wary of the Catholic Church and its condemnation. Prince Gilbert von Beilschmidt of Brandenburg, terrified for his younger brother's soul, sends him to Rome to see that Luther’s teachings are nothing more than the devil tempting him.
In Rome, he meets Father Vargas.
And it’s there that he understands that true temptation came through a man with amber eyes and tan skin.
(Or the one where Ludwig gets fucked by an Italian priest six years older than him when in Rome and has an identity crisis.)

Summary
It was July of 1943 that Germany's boss told her she was going to die.
"It's perfect, isn't it? You're to raise and birth a son with Italy!"
At least his orders felt like death. Germany was meant for the sky, for the suicidal night fighter crew in the air force — she was not a mother.
"And what if I cannot get pregnant?”
“Impossible! You're the fertile agriculture and Prussia the superior military. A perfect balance for a perfect empire.”
No, nothing was perfect when Italy didn't return her feelings, and America and Russia's newfound cooperation in the Allied Forces bubbled a looming threat of clashing ideologies willing to do anything for control. With Italy as the only way back to a normal life, Germany must now find a way to seduce that idiot.
But things were never that simple, were they?

Summary
After an unexpected drunken night, Ludwig and Gilbert end up "employed" on a trans-Atlantic merchant ship. When the best way of getting home seems to be piracy, Ludwig soon finds himself doing things he'd never imagined himself doing before. Pulled into treacherous games, family drama, and the whims of their captain, by the time the chance to leave presents itself, will Ludwig still want to?
Alfred is freer than ever on the sea, with his own ship, his own crew, making his own rules. It's exactly how he imagined it would be. However, his past is a determined pursuer, one that has dedicated his life to catching him ever since he ran away from home. When faced with a major betrayal and a face he thought he'd never see again, Alfred will have to decide what family means to him, and if he can reconcile both of his.
(Pirate!Alfred and soon-to-be-pirate!Ludwig fall in love on the high seas, even though Ludwig just wants to go home most of the time and Alfred is getting into all kinds of trouble running away from his)

Summary
Perhaps Ludwig has gotten too used to such marital bliss, too comfortable with the little changes that are invisible yet whole. Perhaps that is why he’s in his current state: Perplexed, staring after Alfred’s leaving figure. From the doorway, he watches Alfred laughing into the phone and shutting the bedroom door.
He tries to shake it off. His hand instead cups his cheek as if to compensate for a sensation that isn’t there.
He shouldn’t be bothered by this. It’s something small, miniscule even. Most wouldn’t notice it, that break in routine.
or, ludwig is grumpy at work because his husband didn’t kiss him goodbye
