Summary
When his master brings home a creature of legend to wield as a weapon, half man and half wolf, Jongseong finds himself tasked to do a simple thing during the empty hours that it isn’t being trained: feed and bathe it, make sure it’s as comfortable as possible, and keep it company.
Meanwhile, being the only kind person in the prison it now calls home, the creature named Sunghoon grows fond of its keeper and makes a promise—to make sure Jongseong is safe no matter what.

The Nibulen language is so beautiful. It's my favorite aspect of this whole story

Summary
Jongseong had always struggled with the concept of time after all — it felt like grains of sand slipping through his fingers, a precipice of disaster that always caused something and not the everything he always wanted.
Too early, too late. It doesn’t matter, not anymore, because how could it?
How could he save him at the cost of a life?
How could he live at the cost of their lives?
How could Jongseong love him, when all Heeseung needs to do now is to survive? How could Jongseong feel, when it was this love that caused it to happen in the first place?

The writing is stunning. Both on the original and the edited version. I'm being brave reading it because it does scare me, lol.

When one boy grows into a monster instead of a man; bones elongating, teeth sharpening to points, chest cavity expanding to make room for an unending craving; then the other is bound to follow.
Because childhood love is hard to shake. Because they will follow each other — one way or another.
Or; snapshots from many lifetimes, interspersed.

Summary
the man looks at him. nothing in his face brightens or darkens; it remains exactly as it was before riki spoke at all. his chin is tipped down a bit, the planes of his cheekbones catching the yellow-orange hue produced by the light strip above. he’s beautiful. he’s really fucking beautiful.
(or: riki is intrigued by a stranger with dark, pretty eyes and a lot of secrets.)
