Summary
It was late-night now.
Fester Addams, being a convicted criminal, shouldn't be too surprised when he notices his niece has become a prime escape artist and ran out of the motel they were staying at just to find Enid just a little bit quicker. Wednesday had small hopes that she'd find Enid ripping something apart—doing something monstrous. "God forbid a girl have interests," as Enid would say. Wednesday hated to admit it, but she loved Enid's little exclamations.
...That was the push she needed to take out the Lycosanguis and make her split-second decision.

"She was in a car accident. She's...she's dead."

Wednesday Addams has a LOT of feelings – so many, in fact, that if she didn't work very, very hard to maintain rigid control, they would regularly overwhelm her. This includes feelings for her roommate, which she mostly deals with by keeping both the feelings and the roommate at a safe (but not too distant) distance.
This becomes rather more difficult when Enid faces an unimaginable tragedy.

Summary
