Summary
The diamond sculpture sat in the dark, awaiting the return of conversation and firelight. He remained there for quite a long time, until he decided that an amazing diamond person who deserved everything in the world clearly had better things to do than wait around for a demon to come to him.
Diamond is fickle, aware of its value. It is also one of the few materials that will hold an enchantment– and a demon, especially a distracted, lonesome demon, is a wellspring of magic.
As such, it should come as no surprise that as soon as Skeppy concluded that sitting in the dark was boring, he was able to stand up and walk away.

The awkward kid standing in front of him has to be, what, twenty five? Twenty six, tops. Hardly a kid at all, really, but Jeez, does Bdubs ever feel like an old geezer looking at him.
“Etho?” he says experimentally.
The kid blinks over at him owlishly. “Bdubs?” he says and, yeah, that’s Etho’s voice alright. Quiet and unsure, and softer than it’s been in years, but definitely, definitely Etho.

As sculk contamination puts the future of Season 10 in doubt, the situation gets more complicated when an Etho from 2013 lands in the hermits' laps.

In which Mumbo crosses several towns, learns some creative methods of self-defense, fights some monsters, sees things no human is meant to have seen, befriends a stranger, steals multiple cars, has inconvenient moral scruples, grows increasingly terrified of his own culpability in the apocalypse, grows a spine, blows up at least one building, accidentally prevents a murder, and attempts to find his best friend in the futile but ever-burning hope the man’s still alive.
He has to say, he’s so exhausted and terrified that he thinks he might just be mad?
(OR: the one where, after most of humanity turns into a series of terrifying monsters, Mumbo decides he’s going to risk his life on an apocalypse road trip to try to find out if Grian is alive. Things, as you might imagine, devolve from there.)
