Summary
Six years after returning from his unexpected journey, Bilbo Baggins is forced to flee the Shire when goblins invade. He and the four young Hobbit lads he brought to Rivendell with him were the only ones to escape and are shocked to learn that the rest of their people have vanished into thin air. As an alliance of Elves, Men, Dwarves, and a wizard search for their missing people, the remaining Hobbits are granted sanctuary in the Kingdom of Erebor. However, Bilbo’s journey back to the Lonely Mountain is long and treacherous, especially when he’s being pursued by a creature that’s after his blood. Well, his bloodline.

Summary
Bilbo has been learning everything he can about courting and dwarven customs and when he’s finally ready to reveal his gift to Thorin, he is rejected. Bitterly, Bilbo drowns himself in ale, and when another dwarf tries to pick a fight with him, Thorin rushes to his aid declaring him to be ‘the future Consort’. Bilbo is now wildly confused and quite sure he’s dreaming, but he knows for sure he doesn’t want to wake.

If there was one thing Tony Stark was not going to stand for. It was his kid being called a liar and having his future at risk. Evidence: He’s clenching his jaw to the point of pain and very pointedly looking at the TV, like the local weatherman spouting off about a heat wave is capable of holding this much of his attention. If this were—before, they would not be watching the news.

Buck sags against the wall. “Sorry,” he says, wiping the back of his forearm against his forehead in a mixture of frustration and newfound exhaustion. “Sorry.”
A thumb swipes across his cheekbone, searching eyes boring into his. “Buck. What’s wrong?”
Buck closes his eyes, then blinks them open. “Nothing,” he says, because he doesn’t know how to tell the truth. He doesn’t know what the truth even is. “Everything’s, uh—everything’s fine. Buck remembers reading something once. He’s not sure where or when, and he’s not even sure who said it. But he’ll never forget the words. He’ll never forget the way they burrowed beneath his skin like an arrow aiming straight for his heart. Those words had made him ache back then, but now the memory of them is ripping him apart.
Someone has to leave first. This is a very old story. There is no other version of this story.
He’d always known it would be Eddie who would walk away first, but he hadn’t expected it to go like this. He hadn’t expected it to hurt quite so bad.
