Simon Says
Simon says: Stand straight. Simon says: Stop wriggling your toes. Simon says: Bend far enough to touch them instead. Simon says: You can’t touch them? Haven’t you been doing your stretching exercises? How else are you going to make sure you’re in your best shape and form? Simon says: Wipe those damn tears from your eyes. When are you going to finally grow up? Simon says: This is getting boring. Provide us with some entertainment. Simon says: Sing. No, not with her. No, not that song. No, not that one either. How did that line go again? “Even if I fall asleep for infinity, don't leave my side.”? Sing it. Oops, the last one wasn’t Simon’s command. You better not have followed through. Good girl.

Summary
Sua’s dress was stained with red. Sua’s hair was frayed at the edges. Sua’s eyes had stilled and halted right before Mizi’s eyes. Sua’s skin—skin that would change color in a few days' time, crinkled around her eyelids. Sua’s nails had already purpled—how long has Mizi sat here?
Her eyes ingrained the sight of Sua’s body into her brain. That way, she’d never forget. Mizi will never forget that it was her who caused this. She knew this would happen. She knew, yet she pretended anyway. She let herself be paraded along. She let herself smile at Sua, let herself hug Sua—and all the while, she counted down Sua’s death as though she could hear the pendulum swing.
OR
The aftermath of Sua's death. In Mizi's point of view.

Summary
“I love you,” Mizi gasps, eyes blurring with tears. Sua smiles against her skin. “But I need to know. Are you real?”
Sua steps back, sweeps her gaze over Mizi lovingly. They spend hours, or days, or years staring into each other’s eyes. Mizi never wants to stop. Mizi wants to stop now, because this isn’t right, hasn’t been right. Sua is supposed to be warm, present in a way she isn’t, despite how she acts. Sua is supposed to be alive.
Sua’s face is fond. Something about it sends chills down Mizi’s spine. “Does it matter?”
After her rescue from the stage, Mizi begins to see Sua in her dreams...and in real life.

Summary
"Oh, pitiful girl, what have you done to yourself?" croons the girl, the girl the witch once was, her unmarred palms cradling the marred flesh of the witch’s face, reaching her unseeing eye. The girl’s fingers trace the scars all the way down to the sides of the witch's jaw, thumbing the couple of tufts of hair coiled underneath.
She leans closer, her long hair tickling the witch’s nose, her mouth pressed to the witch’s ear. “Look at that. You cut down the softest part of your body. It’s no wonder no one will love you anymore.”
(Or: In this version of the story, the witch lives for so long that she forgets that she, too, was a girl once.)
