Summary
Miles does not feel better when he wakes, but at least it is light. He lies in bed for a few long moments, possibly hours. When he finally gets up, he walks out to the pier and stares blearily at the lake. It is cold; the water is rippling in the wind. He wonders if there are fish in its depths, but he would not know. He knows shockingly little. I do not understand anything about this world, he thinks, and he finds the thought strangely comforting. He knows nothing. He is an empty thing. But he does know the one thing, and the one thing he knows is how to hurt.
Or, Miles Edgeworth, alone.

Summary
They eat the tiramisu outside on the patio and Miles brings the radio with them, where voices chat lightly in Italian, sometimes laughing or playing music. Occasionally, Phoenix asks for a translation, and Miles slips in and out of the two languages seamlessly - he doesn’t even care much for what they’re saying, Phoenix just likes to hear him repeat the words back to him. “Pirla,” Miles says, spooning at a layer of cocoa-powder, “it means ‘idiot’ or 'stupid person'.”
“Pirla.” He repeats, in full-blown American. “And what are they saying now?”
“They’re talking about how much they hate their husbands.”
“Jesus. Why does everyone always hate their husbands?”
Phoenix makes dinner. A week spent in Lake Como, 2022.

Summary
"The unrelenting beep of heart monitors. The piercing wails of the newly widowed. Choirs of brutal coughs echoing in the corridors like a death knell. There were few people in the world for whom Miles would endure this onslaught of unwanted sensory input. Unfortunately, Phoenix Wright was one of them."
AKA: my version of the forbidden hospital scene.
