Summary
See, Ochako loves UA. She makes such wonderful friends there; people with bright lives and bright futures. She learns what it means to be inspired to do better, to chase something greater than herself.
She learns what it’s like to be alone, too.
It’s not so bad, the first few weeks. Ochako calls her parents as often as she can in between homework, classes, and cooking. The hours alone in her apartment don’t feel so long when she has new friends to text and a brand new day of juggling their sensei’s strange teaching style and heroics lessons to look forward to. Her life is busier than it’s ever been before! It’s easy to get lost in the excitement of it all, Ochako finds.
But then the USJ happens, and suddenly this time when Ochako comes home to a cold and empty apartment it’s so much worse.
Ochako is touch-starved.

Summary
The first time Izuku sees Kacchan since graduation, nearly three years ago now, it comes in the wake of his own rescue, five days after Izuku goes missing.
The door lies busted on the ground where Kacchan—Dynamight—kicked it in, the hero himself now standing in the empty frame. He’s haloed like a vengeful god by the light pouring in from behind him, all sharp edges and powerful eyes, and Izuku has to squint to see him properly, his own eyes unused to the light.
“Kacchan,” Izuku croaks, his voice dry and crackly from disuse. He says the name he’s taken great care to avoid these last few years without entirely meaning to. “You came.”
In the wake of Izuku's kidnapping, the tension between him and Katsuki finally bubbles over.

Summary
“What you did, by not telling anyone how you were feeling, was illogical and stupid. You realize that, right?” Aizawa’s voice threatens to stray from the neutral tone it so often resides in, now strained and short. Hitoshi has a hard time meeting his eyes.
It was stupid of him, but, “It doesn’t matter. I have to learn how to push through that pain to catch up with everyone else, right? I mean, look at Midoriya. He was breaking his arm every other day and now he’s the top of the class.”
When Aizawa pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs deeply, Hitoshi knows he’s dipped his toes into something he shouldn’t have. He expected a short rebuttal, or maybe a scolding, but his sensei looks… worn out.
“Midoriya nearly lost all function in both of his arms before he learned to ask for help. If you’re not careful with this, something just as bad might happen to you.”
In trying to catch up with his classmates, Shinsou overworks himself.

Summary
“You needed me,” Izuku says through a thick voice, bright-eyed as he fusses with the ends of Katsuki’s hair. “I’ll always be here, when you need me. You know that, right, Kacchan?”
Katsuki tries to sit up, then, only to be gently pushed back by Izuku who won’t stop smiling through his tears, who won’t stop petting at Katsuki like he’s some fucking child’s toy. He smacks the hand away, and Izuku only laughs unrestrainedly like it’s the funniest thing he’s ever seen.
Something is horribly wrong.
“Deku… What did you do?”
Izuku shakes his head, wiping at his nose as he gasps through his laughter. “It—It doesn’t matter. You’re going to be okay, Kacchan. You’re going to be a hero,” Izuku promises.
Now, it feels more like a threat.
Katsuki and Izuku fall apart after Izuku trades One for All to save his life.

Izuku shakes his head. “No, that’s not the issue. My mom won’t let me go without a chaperone and, well, I don’t really have anyone else who could take me—”
Oh! Well, that’s easy to solve. “I’ll take you!”
“—so I guess that—” Izuku breezes past Toshinori’s offer before it seems to catch up with him, halting the words in their tracks. He blinks slowly, staring up at Toshinori like he can’t quite believe what he’s hearing.
“You—” Izuku clenches and unclenches his jaw while Toshinori waits for him to process. He almost wants to laugh; his kid is more unresponsive than he was when Toshinori offered him One for All in the first place. Izuku’s mouth ran at full speed that day, but this stumps him?
“You’ll take me?” Izuku finally echoes, then again, “you’ll take me?!”
Toshinori offers to accompany Izuku to this year's Hero Con, and accidently stumbles into meaning along the way.

He turned on his heel to leave the gym. Before he could reach the door, the power went out, followed by a loud clunking sound of the door locking. Pulling on the handle to no avail confirmed this.
“What, the actual fuck?”

Ochako’s lips quirk up into a sad smile at the breathless hope in her husband’s voice. She knows what it must have been like for Izuku to grow up quirkless. He doesn’t like to share much, saying he’d rather focus on happier things, but what she has heard makes her wish more than anything she could’ve been around to protect him much sooner. Ochako sees the consequences of his mistreatment in every anxious look, every hurried word, every self-denial.
She wants to make him see just how wonderful he can be.
“Izuku, I know you can.”
Ochako couldn't be prouder of her husband. She only wishes he could see how amazing he is, too.
