Summary
Dazai has his life sorted out: he's a government worker, he's "passionate" about his job, and he has a friend that he goes to the bar with every Friday.
But suddenly he finds himself facing down folk tale horrors with a gun in his hand and a stranger by his side, and he's forced to ask himself this: what exactly did he want so badly that he would fight the gates for it?

Summary
Madara had been a good Hokage for a month, a good husband for a week, a good friend for nearly a decade (discounting that period of war when he tried to burn everything that Hashirama had ever loved), and a good brother for his entire life minus a year (again, discounting that time he tried to dunk all four of his brothers in the sacred Uchiha pond).
Sure, things could be better. The paperwork could stand to have more structural integrity, and Madara would rather have had his own house, no matter if he would miss Izuna and the rest of his brats. The Raikage could have more patience, and Takigakure could be less foolish. (But in all honesty, things could not be better.)
It was a good three years. But this was Naruto, and good things only happen in your dreams.
OR:
“Alright, this thing has been going on for the whole morning. What’s wrong with you?”
—Uchiha Izuna to Madara“Unless you want me to carve up his brain, I don’t see what I can do for you.”
—Senju Tobirama to Izuna

Summary
“You know,” Charles started with a laugh, “if Red Bull are as fucked as you say they are, maybe you should just come with me.”
Max furrowed his eyebrows, bright eyes glinting in the sunlight.
“With you?” he asked.
“To Ferrari, of course.”
OR:
Max moves to Ferrari. Charles deals with it.

Summary
“I don’t know,” He finds himself staring at another picture. Max is laughing brightly, to the point where his eyes are crinkled, and his mother is smiling too. There is a navy cap on her head: it is a Red Bull cap. Max’s Red Bull cap. “It’s just hard to imagine, I think.”
Pascale looks at him. For a moment it is an odd look. But that quickly melts into a smile. One that is gentle around the eyes, and soft on the mouth. Somehow, it makes Charles feel young again — younger than how he already feels; twenty-one in a world where he is twenty-five.
“You don’t have to imagine it, mon garçon,” she says quietly. “It has already happened.”
Or,
The last thing Charles remembers is the 2019 Austrian Grand Prix.

Summary
“Okie-dokes.” Kuroba shakes himself, and then turns to wave at the waiting group of suspects and witnesses with a reassuring smile. They stare blankly at him.
“They’re traumatized, Kaito-san.”
“I know. That’s why I’m being nice.”
Shinichi grabs Kuroba’s jacket and starts yanking him toward the group, ignoring his annoyed muttering. In Kuroba’s defense, he’s very good at looking reassuring. It’s just a lot less effective when he’s standing next to the corpse.

When a magician seemingly murders an audience member in the middle of a show, no one but Conan can even begin to figure out all the tricks of this case. Naturally, Megure talks to Nakamori, who recommends the one and only magic expert that he knows: Kuroba Kaito.

Summary
Shinichi stares at Kaito’s back, watching the subtle rise and fall of the other’s shoulders to indicate that he was asleep. Or, supposedly asleep. Shinichi knows the difference between when Kaito was actually asleep, and when he was feigning sleep by now, after having shared a bed with him for nearly a year. He knows, even when Kaito was pouring about, as Kaito himself put it, “merely a cup’s worth of his superior acting skills into such a menial task” in order to feign being asleep.
And he was not asleep.
Shinichi narrows his eyes. But he didn’t know why.
