    Roy looked like shit and the familiarity of that sunken pale look on his face felt like a kick in the gut. In the back of his mind he was working frantically to push down the memories of Catherine’s placid body sprawled out on the floor, too strung out to recognize her own son.
    " You look like shit, Harper."
    To smooth over his harsh words he handed Roy the lit cigarette and immediately pulled out a new one. Roy took the cigarette and Jason pretended to not see how badly his hand shook as he held it up to his lip while inhaling deeply.
    "Thanks, man. It’s nice to be recognized for making an effort."

    In the beginning of their blossoming friendship Roy has a relapse. Jason helps him through. Pining and angst like it's my birthday.

Meanwhile, Jason is just trying to do his job, and would very much appreciate it if the beautiful, kind ginger at work stopped making it so easy to fall in love with him.
    Then Jason meets Red Hood, a traumatized mare who refuses to let humans close, and the two men get an opportunity to learn how to reach out, trust, and the perilous leap of faith of believing in dreams.
