Magnus lasted a year. He started working as a part-time firefighter two months into classes and somehow made it through finals before dedicating himself to working full time as a firefighter.
Lup switched majors five times within her first year before “settling” on trying to get a nursing degree to see if the medical field was right for her before jumping on the MD train. Barry took all of two steps into the medical building to realize he was going to be a doctor.
Magnus roped both of them into working at the firehouse.
Set in the 12 years pre-story and song, college volunteer firefighters/EMTs AU.

In their corner they have their manservants--the inimitable Jeeves and the Machiavellian Johnson--as well as a tiny bouncer, a massive bookseller, and a shady informant who likes his payment in dirty novels. Arrayed against them are Mimsy's parole officer and Bertie's fellow suitors. Oh, and the entire might of the Old Families, those inscrutable Unseelie socialites who can't touch iron and won't ever let you out of a debt... or an engagement.

Summary
There's a doomed timeline where everyone just said "fuck this" after everything went to shit and quite literally hacked their way out of the game, pausing only long enough to bust their dead friends out of the dream bubbles. It's amazing how much of a challenge Alternia still is, after everything these kids have done, but if Sgrub couldn't keep them down, a little thing like the Alternian Empire certainly isn't.
