Graduation comes, summer ends. They all leave. No one calls much. He doesn’t hear from his parents most weeks. Holly is too old to love her brother anymore, but she waves at him when he sees her wandering downtown with the rest of the twelve. When the others do call, they talk about their new friends and experiences, something different each ring. Their stories, he can’t keep straight.
His own story never changes. He doesn’t know the names of the other students in his classes. Forgets his roommate's name more often than not. No one knows his name, either. It’s the gray malaise of adulthood.

Powder wakes up in the dark. Her entire body aches, the metallic scent of dried blood stuffing up her nostrils, but under the pain something rushes through her veins with a hum. Summary
Taako had just wanted to spend a nice night at the ball. Sure, he wasn't supposed to be at the ball, but that didn't mean he couldn't have a nice night there anyway. He wasn't even planning on meeting the prince. He told himself he was going to play it safe, just mill about for a few hours, drink all the fancy drinks and eat the fancy hors d'oeuvre and maybe steal some of the expensive silverware, but that was it.
He didn't plan on an announcement going out to the world of his engagement to Prince Kravitz. Especially since they weren't, you know, actually engaged. Or even knew each other. All they could do was go along with the ruse until they thought of some way out of it.
Pretending to be engaged probably shouldn't be this much fun.
