“I have the very best of intentions,” she’d told Zelda, who was still asleep at the time. “The very best.”
But then Zelda had woken up and said, “it’s tradition,” with big dark eyes and sleep-curled hair and absolutely no eyebags—negative eyebags, and there was something strange and very alluring about a girl who was so far ahead on her sleep debt that she’d maybe never need to sleep again. And Link had leaned in, despite all those intentions, and said—
Well, not exactly anything in words, but there was tongue involved.
