“I’m referring you out for a second opinion.”

    “You were-hic—the second opinion.”

Remus won’t remind him he’s actually the fourteenth opinion he’s had in three years. That seems impolite.

“Listen,” the elderly doctor continues, “I have a colleague at the Mayo Clinic who’s brilliant. Most promising young mind in the field. If he can’t solve it, no one can.”

He slides a business card across the desk; its crisp, shiny letters read: Sirius Black, MD, PhD. Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology.

    Summary

“You write like a drunk pigeon,” James says, turning the paper to the side and squinting. “Seriously, aren’t noble people supposed to know how to write?”

Regulus steals the scroll back, rolls it, and wacks him on the head with it. “Shut it,” he says, so James drops the subject and eyes the scroll instead.

“What’s this, then? Are we conjuring the devil?”

Regulus kisses his teeth. “I have… rules.”

    “No kidding,” he deadpans.

Prompt 63: When James won’t shut up about how he could get with anyone he wants, Sirius challenges him to a bet: if James can persuade Sirius’ ice cold younger brother Regulus to go out with James on three dates, Sirius will do all of James’ homework for a full term.

    Summary

After a whirlwind, no strings attached fling in Italy, James and Regulus decide to keep their connection confined to the moment and the country. Seven years later, fate throws them together in New York City, where the spark between them reignites despite their efforts to keep things casual. With emotions deepening, James must decide whether to confront the past he’s long buried and embrace what they could become, or risk losing Regulus for good.

    Summary

    “Who are the marauders?”

“They’re teen royalty,” Evan says, glancing over at the field, and Remus follows his gaze to a trio of boys making their way out onto the field, wind artfully tousling their hair like they’re currently shooting a shampoo commercial. “If Hogsmeade was The Daily Prophet, they would always be on the cover.”

“That one there, that’s James Potter,” Barty says, pointing at the dark skinned boy with messy hair and gold rimmed glasses, his gym uniform appearing to be several sizes too small. “He is one of the dumbest guys you will ever meet. Evan sat next to him in English last year.”

“He asked me how to spell orange.”

“And that little one, that’s Peter Pettigrew,” Barty continues, pointing out the smaller blonde boy, a muggle cell phone pressed against his ear, so focused on his call that he doesn’t even notice the dodgeball before it bounces off the side of his head. “Peter Pettigrew knows everyone’s business. He knows everything about everyone.”

“And evil takes human form in Sirius Black,” Barty says darkly, an unpleasant expression crossing his face.
