Summary
Whatever intention Imperials may have had in destroying Alderaan evaporates in the space of a chokehold. Serendipitously, Vader was never enthused about the potential toll exacted by the Death Star.
All plans to have Luke defeat the Jedi's wayward Chosen One unravel just as quickly. It's probably just as well Obi-Wan was experiencing doubts.
So it falls to Leia, Obi-Wan, and Luke to build a tenuous alliance with Vader...who just decided he'd rather work with them anyway.
Of course, the Clone Wars era Dream Team has to work around their haunting by the ghosts, of each other and otherwise, inside their heads.
