Jack Abbot is two beers and a bourbon into the evening, pleasantly warm but not actually drunk. He thinks if he was drunk, he’d write this whole conversation off as an elaborate hallucination. Chucking a handful of mixed nuts into his mouth, he’s still not entirely sold on it not being some sex-deprived, testosterone-fueled fantasy his mind has cooked up after a full dose of trazodone.

Dr. Abbot fidgets under her attention before sighing. "Eat," he adds, head turned away from her, looking at the food, then at the table, then her. Samira, internally, likes to take a tally of the amount of mouth and neck movements he makes per conversation; it was always a number that amused her greatly.
They stare at each other, Samira trying to formulate a rebuttal, before she realizes. There was no one here she'd trust with her patients more. She knows, instinctually, that he would care in the same way she did.

It was all Trinitys fault. Everything that happened between her and Yolanda had been on Trinitys terms. So she had no right to spiral. Defenitely no right to snap at Dr. Al-Hashimi like that. But she does. Because that's what Trinity does. She snaps and fights and hurts anybody who tries to show her kindness. Maybe this is what she deserves.
