Summary
For Day 3 of DoomReed Week 2022, theme of "Collaboration."
Content Warnings: Victor starts out in a bad spot, so PTSD gets mentioned as needed, violence is typical for both comics and the Pacific Rim franchise (which means it's fairly violent and bloody, be aware)Plot: Victor has found a way to pilot a jaeger alone, but is not quite prepared for the psychological fallout of doing so. When his mech gets damaged, Steve offers him aid in exchange for information and help with expanding the capabilities of US jaeger systems. Reed is enlisted to help convince Victor, but distracted by a crush he's had (and hidden) since college. Slow burn, but not that slow cause I'm impatient.

Summary
He had known Victor would not take kindly to being disturbed. Part of him felt like he was invading by being in here with him. Perhaps that was the true reason this floor was empty. Victor had a… reputation, certainly, and a way of making anyone feel threatened just with a look. However, Reed had thought, foolishly, they could stay out of each other’s way, and nothing would come of it.
But of course, Reed’s curiosity always got the better of him.

Set immediately after One World Under Doom #7. Reed Richards awakens in chains, in the hands of Victor Von Doom. The battle was over, he lost, and Doom has all the time in the world to make him kneel. Doom wants him alive, but not whole. Reed will not break, yet Doom delights in bringing him close, again and again.

He woke to the sound of his own breath scraping through his throat.
The copper taste told him that he had bitten his tongue sometime since the last thing he remembered: Doom’s voice everywhere at once, the astral plane seizing and folding and shattering into a million pieces, his body fracturing into molecules, atoms, and then beyond that. His skull throbbed with a phantom burn—like lightning had been braided into his medulla and left there to smolder.
