Summary

Summary
After surviving a fire that changed both their lives, Shane is doing everything he can to keep himself together and his little girl alive, even when the sight of her face makes him ill. She looks too much like her parents, too much like a ghost.
Harvey, a combat medic turned small-town doctor, carries his own trauma like a second heartbeat. When Jas becomes Harvey’s patient, he volunteers to start weekly therapy sessions to help her cope with her past. He didn’t imagine that he’d start to help Shane through his, too.
Jas, meanwhile, is just hoping everything gets better. That her uncle smiles more, that she gets new shoes, and that nice Mr. Harvey sticks around, he makes things better, somehow. That, she supposed, is what doctors did, after all.
Our title comes from the song Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros! <3

first stardew valley fic. so epic
I love the way Harvey is characterized. And Shane. And. everyone LOL
Especially the way the fic builds up on the in-game lore. Head over heels with with worldbuilding and characterization. Especially how Jas is characterized. Have I ever mentioned how Jaz was the first person I got to full hearts? Not any of the bachelors, nor the sweet old lady (who was a VERY close second), but the timid, sweet little girl. I love her character so much; I love the way this fic builds upon her instead of discarding her.
And talk about slow burn. sheesh, 70k+ words and barely any romantic interest expressed between the two? They've gotta pick up their grind. Oh well, Jas *is* the most important person in the room.

I was hesitant to read this because of a rather stupid reason: I didnt like the bold text Pyro had when he talked LOL. I let it sit in my mind for a couple days, realized I was being childish, and decided to sit down and actually give this a chance. Best decision I have made this year.
I dont think I've ever read a fic that managed to capture the pure idiocy that happens in the comics. I was simultaneously taken aback and extremely amused at how much they matched. At one point I genuinely started to question if the original creator of the comics began to write fanfiction. (And sometimes I find myself circling back to that line of thought--who gave this writer so much power??)
Amazing characterization, pacing, and storyline. By far the best fanfic I've read. 10/10 -

Summary
A campaign of sabotage against the RED mercenaries has them stand on edge as they try to figure out who or what is going after them. Spy takes the lead on the investigation, and quickly finds out that BLU isn't behind it.
In the midst of all this, Scout learns the truth about his parentage, which, as suspected, does not help.
Spy hopes this is the only mistake from his past that comes to bite him in the ass. Let sleeping dogs lie, they say. Sometimes, they wake up on their own.

Update May 26th, 2025: I am SO sorry for going MIA for an entire year. Right after i posted the last update I lost both my apartment and my job. Dw, I am safe now but it's been a tough year. Slowly working my way towards finishing this fic again. Thank you all for your support. It has meant a lot to me <3
