John has been through hell and back. His faith, his sanity-- He has taken blow after blow, and he's barely holding on. He’s done his best, to try to do what he thought he had to in order to save the world, but it wasn't enough.
He was a fool. He was a coward, and he couldn't take it anymore. He was done.
Father Garcia, hope still within in him despite the fateful night of the attempted summoning of the UNSPEAKABLE, knows that he can't do it alone. John was different-- He had something that made him stronger against the demons. He was the only one who could save them.
Father Garcia needed his help. John wasn't exactly innocent (Lisa? The dead cultists?), after all, so Garcia didn't feel horrible making a man with blood on his hands fight.
Even if it seemed like it might kill him.

Summary
Mendoza, a neurotic, irritable man, has been personally wronged by the Eternal Order of the Second Death. After about a year of grappling with the idea that the cult has betrayed him, he decides upon getting his life together while getting revenge along the way. Unfortunately for everyone involved, said revenge can only be executed while in the partnership of John and Father Garcia.
Forcibly, Mendoza makes his way into the alliance of the two priests, though he goes after the cult for his own selfish reasons instead of “fighting for God.” He’s been a past victim of the cult, and will continue to be. He’s practically lost all he has – but maybe, just maybe… he can find something new to fight for.

Summary
It is over. William Afton is trapped in his own personal Hell, consigned there by Henry and kept there by Michael. That is where he will stay, as the decades pass, and that is where his mind will be lost to torture. The ghosts remain trapped, forced to kill their killer, over and over. Michael's anger, his will, it will hold them there forever. There is no escape.
But there is.
Michael never made it past 23. Old Man Consequences wants to free him of his desire for revenge. He gives Michael a chance to go through the life he never had, but it is contingent on throwing William a bone as well.
William is an evil man, twisted by a past full of secrets that drive his murderous tendencies that kept him from understanding the pain he has wrought. Old Man Consequences will never let what has happened happen again.
He has the perfect solution. He touches William's mind and enables him to understand what he is done: He gives William the ability to feel empathy. This changes everything, and nothing, at the same time.
AKA:
Old Man Consequences sends them back to '83, and William gets an undeserved chance.

His carefully constructed barriers had collapsed like a flimsy house of cards. To be granted his wish this way was a type of mockery. How he had wanted to be fully Vulcan. To prove that the blood which runs through his veins was not so human.

Summary
Spock tells Kirk about his planet long before they go. He is logical and straightforward, listing the objective facts, but Kirk knows what he means. When Spock says, “The temperature is significantly higher than Earth’s,” he means that sometimes the Enterprise gets cold, and he misses home. “A dry heat,” he assures Kirk, and Kirk knows it means that Spock can’t stand humidity. “The sands were always red,” and that’s why it’s Spock’s favorite color. “Near my home there was a Korian tree, and it was only in bloom five days a year,” so Spock sends a communication to his mother every year on those days and asks how the tree is doing. It’s a very beautiful picture that Spock paints with facts and numbers.
When Spock asks Kirk about Earth, about Iowa, all Kirk can describe are the stars.
