Husk had lived in Sunspilt Nevada his entire life. He’s never left and he doesn’t know if he ever will.
Growing up in a small desert town really impacts the way you view “fancy”. When you’ve lived in the same run-down house, grown up with the same kids, gone to the same school, and shopped at the same stores for the entirety of your youth, it's hard to imagine there's more than that small desert town.

Anthony had never wanted to leave. Being uplifted from his entire life after his grandmother died, moving across the world, meeting his parents for the first time since childhood, and trying to learn English proved as a change that Anthony wasn't ready for.
He missed Italy. He missed belonging, and most of all, he just missed home. And he promised himself he would go back one day, no matter what.

Senior year is just around the corner. One more year before Husk can get the hell out of this place and never look back.
Things change when a new family moves in across the street.
